From the dusty dirt roads trimmed by acres of farm fields in South Carolina to the potholed pavements of the DC’s Capital Beltway, Tyrone Thompson has extensive global experience that helped shape him into a leading Project Management Professional (PMP), leader and strategist.
Tyrone has over 15 years in Project and Program Management. Albeit, after his military and undergrad studies, and like most college graduates...he tried to find what he was really good at as he pursued the professional world. He found himself dabbling in internships with the Carolina Panthers to working for an Internet Service Provider (ISP). It was at the ISP in Fort Mill, SC that Mr. Thompson stumbled upon a profession that was not talked about in the halls of academia at that time....the emerging opportunity were the duties of a project manager.
Since then, Tyrone has accumulated over 15+ years of Project and Program Management expertise as well as the application of those very skills in numerous organizations both foreign and domestic. His leadership abilities helped lead a groundbreaking implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (2010) more notably known as Obamacare. Prior to being part of the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services’ Office of Technical Services group, Mr. Thompson’s breadth of knowledge in IT Program and Project Management expanded industries such as telecom, medical, financial, High-Tech and government.

In order to minimize risks which is inherent to any business investments; the ability to research effectively, understand trends and execute based on sound strategy and project management skills helps position an organization to better achieve its goals.”
Mr. Thompson's unique approach in cultivating future leaders while focusing on the organization's mission has afforded him many friendships and vital expertise as a leader. Mr. Thompson is currently pursuing his PhD at Hampton University in Hampton, VA. He continues to work fulltime at the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services. At Hampton University, he is under the advisement of Dr. Sid Credle, Dean of Hampton’s School of Business. His area of research centers around Management as it pertains to Cyber Security, Risk, Strategy and Finance. He currently lives in the DC Metro area. During his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, Doberman (Rusti), reading, movies and karaoke.
